The last Friday in November might mean Black Friday out in the malls and major high streets, but here at Murray’s, and among 85% of UK independent retailers*, today’s been all about giving back.
Kudos to all independent sellers that – in a stand against global consumerism and the companies that profit from it – chose to donate a percentage of today’s sales to environmental causes and food banks.
Some are calling it Green Friday. Using any hashtag feels a little hypocritical when battling against consumerism (or is that just us?). We just need to save the planet. But if using #greenfriday helps to spread the message, then so be it!
Murray’s donates monthly to Friends of the Earth, a pivotal organisation committed to striving for a healthier planet. For 47 years, they have campaigned for the wellbeing and protection of the natural world and everyone in it.
